How it works

Install, turn on captions, start listening.

Open any YouTube video and enable captions.

Tube Blank replaces selected words with _____ in real time.

Guess by ear. If you miss, hover to reveal and replay.

Start at 20-30% blanks, then increase as you improve.

Tune difficulty from the extension popup.

Blank percentage

Default: 30%

Sets how many words are hidden (5-80%). Start lower, then raise it.

Minimum word length

Default: 4

Shorter words stay visible. Try 5-6 to blank mostly content words.

Blank common words

Default: On

Turn off to keep very common words visible for easier grammar cues.

Phrase-level blanks

Default: Off

Groups blanks into short phrases (2-4 words). Harder, more realistic.

Three quick steps.

Click Add to Chrome and confirm.

Open a YouTube video and turn on captions.

Words blank automatically. Adjust anytime from the extension icon.

Start with 20-30% blanking, then raise gradually.
Use min word length 5-6 to focus on key words.
Missed a blank? Hover, rewind, replay once.
Manual captions are usually cleaner than auto captions.
Already using Language Reactor? No conflict — both extensions run at the same time. (Language Reactor is not required.)
